- Graduated from the University of Leuven (K.U.L, Belgium) in 1998; PhD in Geology from the same university in 2002, specialising in ore metallogeny and analytical geochemistry.
- Formerly Post-Doc Research Associate at the University of Leuven, the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS, Denmark), and Marie Curie Research Fellow at the University of Leeds (UK).
- Involved as Chief exploration geologist in gold and base metal exploration projects in Africa and Central America, and afterwards as consulting geologist in western and central Africa and in Europe.
- Member of the European Federation of Geologists (EFG), the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits (SGA), the Belgo-Luxembourg Union of Geologists (BLUG-UBLG), the Belgian Geological Society (Geologica Belgica).
